DAFNI

Data and Analytics Facility for National Infrastructure (DAFNI)

The DAFNI programme supports advanced research into national infrastructure, including transport, water, and energy systems using computational modelling.

DAFNI aims to improve the efficiency, reliability and sustainability of infrastructure through better sharing and use of data, exploitation of simulation and optimization techniques, and engagement with stakeholders through visualisation.

DAFNI provides a computing platform to allow researchers to collaborate, to integrate their computational models to explore the social and environmental impacts of changes in infrastructure with much greater coverage and detail, and to deposit, share and use data collected in research projects and generated in models.

New Horizon Europe Project to address heatwaves and air pollution

STFC Scientific Computing awarded €686,726 from a new Horizon Europe funded initiative, UrbanAIR. This new EU-funded initiative, UrbanAIR (Urban simulation for air quality and heat resilience strategies), brings together 18 leading partners from eleven European countries to develop an innovative decision-support tool. “DAFNI provides a computing platform to allow researchers to do their compute better and more easily and at scale but I think it's more than that it's also a Community Showcase where people can bring their research together share it and build new collaborations to do things they couldn't do before."
