Ada Lovelace Centre

The Ada Lovelace Centre (ALC) is a multi-disciplinary centre of expertise in research, software engineering and data management, enhancing the scientific impact of STFC’s large-scale national facilities.

The ALC uses integrated approaches to address and solve scientific data challenges by:

  • Improving how data is handled and processed within STFC facilities to extract greater scientific value and enhance understanding
  • Coordinating activities across facilities to exploit cross-cutting opportunities in scientific computing
  • Building and maintaining software and data infrastructure capabilities for facilities
  • Forming a critical mass of staff and skills aligned to the scientific data challenges of the large facilities
  • Supporting research and development activities in software engineering, data management, computational and AI methods and simulation
